No Fair Peeking: An Intimate look at Fragonard's "The Swing"

*UPDATED*

Some of you may be interested in learning more about The Swing since we've chosen it as our piece for the Phelps Art Center. We've had a number of great conversations with various people about the meaning of the piece, the elements found within the painting, and the period in which Fragonard painted it. We're excited to announce that Sharon Boedo, Ph. D, a professor of art history at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, will be giving a talk in Phelps a few days prior to the start of our installation on this piece.

Details: No Fair Peeking: An Intimate Look at Fragonard's "The Swing" Sharon L Boedo, Ph. D Tuesday July 23, 2013 at 7-8 PM Phelps Community Library, 8 Banta Street, Phelps, NY 14532 Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control the Fragonard Lecture scheduled for July 23, 2013 has been postponed to August 8, 2013 Time will be from 7 pm till 8 pm, 15 Church Street in front of the Airigami Exhibit.

We're looking forward to this talk ourselves. As much as we've studied images and read about the work, it will be fun to attend and gain further insights into the work before we begin construction on our own interpretation.

Installation notes

The installation is still following the original schedule. We begin building on July 27 at the Phelps Art Center. The complete display will be available for viewing Aug 1 - Aug 17 (subject to an early ending if the balloons don't last). More information for those interested in taking part in the construction can be found in this blog post.
